Local Facilities - Newport
Gwent's county seat is Cwmbran, but Newport is the largest town. Some of Newport's attractions include a Norman cathedral, ruined Castle and Tradegar House, which is one of the finest restoration houses in Wales.
Newport town centre has an excellent choice of retail shops, banks and restaurants all situated in a large shopping area. Although the main area isn't undercover there is also an indoor shopping mall.
Night Life:
Newport is the main attraction in the Gwent area and has a wide variety of pubs, wine bars and nightclubs to choose from. All the pubs are of a high standard and are situated close together with the busiest periods being Friday and Saturday nights. Zanzibar nightclub is the biggest in Newport, which can hold 1700 people and boasts 3 levels including a restaurant live bands and DJs.
Leisure:
Newport Leisure Centre is located in the town centre and has a large number of sports to choose from with no membership fee to pay.
Newport Leisure Park is situated just outside the town centre on a large retail and leisure estate. It has a 12 screen multiplex cinema, 22-lane bowling alley, various restaurants and fast food outlets. The area also boasts a large selection of superstores covering sport to home and leisure.

Listed in the Top ten best hotels in the world the Celtic Manor has 400 luxury room's 3 golf courses and 2 leisure clubs. The Celtic manor will be the host for one of the highlights of the golfing calendar when the Ryder Cup comes to Wales in 2010
