Military - Air Defence
Air Defence training is the enabler that allows ground based or airborne personnel to contribute to the air battle through the use of radar by providing instructions to Fighter aircraft.
Today's ground based radar and Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACs) aircraft provide an unparallel picture of the air that even the most modern and sophisticated Fighter aircraft cannot match. At BAE Systems Cwmbran Training College we train students in all aspects of Air Defence, from basic ground Control Intercept (GCI) controllers to Senior Weapons Directors managing air operations.
We train student controllers to work with aircrew as a team using BRA+ - Close and Tactical, and Bullseye control techniques providing them with the control skills required in Peacetime and Wartime. Air defence graduates from BAE Systems Cwmbran Training College are able to understand and use radar, radio and digital data links to give Fighter pilots and other associated Air Defence assets the correct tactical information they need to defeat any potential threat.
Investing in sophisticated aircraft is only half the battle: having trained personnel with the big picture to direct then can give you the decisive edge.
