Military - Electronic Warfare
Electronic Warfare (EW) is becoming increasingly important in the 21st Century battlespace and is one of the key elements of the modern battle scenario, protecting one's own forces from attack, denying information to the enemy as well as intercepting and disrupting an enemy's voice communication and datalinks. In effect, EW is a continuing war between active systems that `attack' and defensive systems which protect.
A widespread network of electronic intelligence stations is operated by many countries on land, sea and air, not only to monitor the electromagnetic spectrum, but also to disrupt hostile transmissions.
Defence forces today are more reliant than ever on the electromagnetic spectrum for the conduct of operations and must operate in an electronic environment that contains everything from the basic EW techniques to complex EW countermeasures and threat scenarios.
At BAE Systems Training College Cwmbran we train students of all ranks in all aspects of Electronic Warfare.
EW students from BAE Systems Cwmbran Training College are able to understand and use EW to give the Command the correct tactical and timely information they need to search for, intercept , identify, and locate sources of radiated electromagnetic energy for the purpose of immediate threat recognition .
In summary, conflicts are not won just by having the most up to date Electronic Warfare systems. Having the best trained personnel to operate these systems enables you to be that crucial step ahead.
