Local Facilities - Cardiff

Cardiff is the multi-cultural capital city of Wales. It offers great shopping and entertainment, along with first-class dining and excellent accommodation.

Cardiff is located in south east Wales on the banks of the River Taff where the Taff meets the Bristol Channel. Cardiff is a very fine large and thriving seaport. It has an excellent transport infrastructure and is easily accessed by bus, train or car.

Places to Visit:

  • Cwmbran CastleCardiff Castle - One of Wales' foremost
    visitor attractions, and is located in the
    heart of Cardiff's city centre.
  • Cardiff Ice Rink - Home of the Cardiff
    Devils ice hockey team and also for public use.
  • Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff Bay - Multiplex cinema, nightclubs, bars, bowling alley, arcades, cafes and restaurants.
  • Millennium StadiumMillennium Stadium - Only the second
    stadium in Europe to have a retractable roof. It has a capacity of 72,500 and is the home of Welsh rugby. It is also used for other sports and is currently the venue for the FA Cup Final. The pitch can be removed and with the roof closed the stadium can be used for a variety of events as well as being a venue for big name concerts such as Robbie Williams. Tours of the stadium are available.
  • National Museum of Wales - National Gallery Art & Science also has a Flight Exhibition.

Leisure:

  • Cardiff City centre has a large selection of cinemas, bowling alleys, gyms and restaurants to choose from.
  • Restaurants - A wide variety of world food.
  • Cinemas - Several cinemas in the city centre.
  • Bowling alley - Mega-bowl centre.
  • Gyms - A number of gyms in Cardiff the best being David Lloyd fitness centre. Facilities include indoor/outdoor tennis courts, badminton, squash, pool, fitness rooms, weights room, sauna, hydro pool etc.

Shopping:

Cardiff is one of the top three shopping centres in the UK; it has a large variety of high street shops to choose from plus the Capitol and St. David's indoor shopping centres.

Night Life:

Cardiff has the largest amount of pubs and nightclubs in South Wales. All tastes are catered for from live music to discos.
