Civil - Search And Rescue

Resource Training College has specialised in Search and Rescue (SAR) courses since 1994. Students from many European and Middle Eastern countries have attended and their backgrounds have varied from Air Traffic Controllers to SAR helicopter pilots. All course instruction is based on the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Search and Rescue Manuals.

Two distinct but interlocking parts of SAR are taught. These are the Search and Rescue Organisation, including the establishment and operation of a Rescue Co-ordination Centre (RCC), followed by Search and Rescue procedures including the determination of search areas and types and conduct of searches. Between these two parts a day on the COSPAS/SARSAT satellite distress beacon system is taught. Students are given plenty of opportunity to practise controlling incidents through exercises.

Our instructors are all experienced in SAR both from flying SAR sorties and controlling SAR incidents at a RCC.

The basic course lasts 6 weeks; five weeks in the classroom and the 6th week on visits to various SAR units in the United Kingdom. However, courses can be tailored to the needs of the client.
